【新書】An Introduction to Hokusai

Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) was widely admired in Japan during the Edo period as an outstanding ‘ukiyo-e’ artist. Until his death, he was active in a range of genres, while his popularity has grown into worldwide recognition today. So admired is Hokusai in Japan, that his art is even used for Japanese passports and banknotes. This bilingual publication is intended as an introduction to his achievements as a leading ‘ukiyo-e’ artist, in addition to offering insight into his personality and lifestyle. 作者簡介

日野原健二 日野原健二畢業於慶應義塾大學文學研究科碩士課程。太田紀念美術館館長、慶應義塾大學兼任講師。研究從江戶到明治時期的浮世繪歷史和出版文化。太田紀念美術館展出《葛飾北齋與共濟 奇幻漫畫》、《北齋漫畫 宇宙草圖》、《葛飾北齋富士山三十六景奇技》、《葛飾北齋逝世 170 週年》 ：葛飾北齋- 去富士山」 負責「The Road」等展覽。他的許多出版品包括《歡迎來到浮世繪的世界，英文翻譯》（東京美術，2015年）、《可愛的浮世繪》（東京美術，2016年）和《葛飾北齋的三十六景》富士山」（岩波文庫，2019 年）。
