Philippe Weisbecker
Born in Dakar, Senegal in 1942. In 1966, he graduated from the National School of Decorative Arts (France). In 1968, he moved to New York, USA. He returned to France in 2006 and is currently based in Paris, France, and Barcelona, Spain.
He began his career as an illustrator at the age of 30 and was published in The New York Times, Time Magazine, and The New Yorker (USA). In the late 1990s, his activities shifted from commission work to original works, and he held exhibitions in galleries around the world.
His major awards include the Tokyo Art Directors Club Award in 2004 and 2015.
His main clients include Herman Miller, Coca-Cola, Apple Hermes (USA), Toraya, Panasonic, Mitsukoshi, Shiseido "Hanatsubaki", Suntory, CLASKA (Japan), etc. He also produced the official Tokyo 2020 art poster.
